Fun Beyond Brunei Continued

That last post got a bit long.  Best to have a Part II.  Here goes...

KOTA KINABALU, MALAYSIA

Rather than say we visited Kota Kinabalu, I should say that we visited the Shangri La Tanjung Aru Resort in Kota Kinabalu (KK), Malaysia.  We never left the resort in the 4 nights we spent there during the May school break.  This is the NICEST place, room-wise, that we've ever stayed.  We upgraded to a fancy suite, which included club access.  With 4 children this saved us a lot of money on food, so in the end, I don't think we spent much extra.  It was amazing!  Our kids are getting way too spoiled.

The kids had a great time launching water balloons at each other

Fun waterslides!

MIRI, MALAYSIA (AND SURROUNDING AREAS)

Miri is the nearest border town to Brunei.  We've been there on a few occasions.  We typically stay at the Miri Marriott where they have a wonderful breakfast buffet and nice pool, and we always eat at least one meal at Mr. Ho's, where we can get a delicious ham sandwich.  Sometimes we stop at the border alcohol store to pick up a couple bottles of wine.  Remember ham and alcohol are technically prohibited in Brunei.  When Rachel visited in June, we had some new experiences in Miri: the Crocodile Farm and Lambir Hills National Park.

Miri Crocodile Farm

I was convinced that some of the crocodiles were fake!  They're very real though.

Doesn't it look fake??

Keith paid a few dollars for some raw chicken to feed the crocs!
The snapping of their jaws was quite dramatic!

You can even ride a pony at the crocodile farm!
You'd think you could ride a crocodile...

Poor Sunbear

Poor peacock in a cage

This bird talked to us.  I think he said, "Let me out!"

After seeing monkeys in our yard, it's sad to see them in a cage

 We fed the monkeys bananas

We hiked to a waterfall

That water was COLD!  But it felt great after a long, sweaty hike!

Back at the Marriott to swim, have dinner by the pool, and watch the sunset
